Nice to e-meet you —

I’m Gillian!

I’m a UX designer, dancer, choreographer/teacher, indulger of psychoanalysis, and a major foodie <3

Fun fact: I danced in a promo video for the launch of Microsoft’s Copilot!

About Me

I studied Psychology in undergrad because I’ve always enjoyed understanding what makes people tick. However, when it came to applying that knowledge, I felt unfulfilled working with findings I hadn’t directly contributed to. I realized I wanted to work with data I had collected myself: data I could analyze, draw insights from, and use to drive meaningful change.

On the other hand, I’ve always had an innate love for the arts and design, constantly reaching for the creative positions in student organizations, eventually leading creative teams and spearheading campaigns. I also became a director of a dance team, where I choreographed and built a set for a competition in Canada!

My experiences collectively shaped my aspirations to design experiences informed by human-driven data while thinking outside the box.

Outside UX

I’m currently a director and faculty member at RTHMZ, a Seattle-based training and performance team.

I LOVE to teach and believe that I’m as much a student as everyone else in the room!

My Philosophy & Approach

My learning philosophy remains consistent within the dance studio, a classroom, a Figjam file, or in a meeting room:

I approach life with a “fail to learn, learn to fail” mindset. I’m a firm believer in the fact that failure is just a step closer toward success and being where you’re meant to be. It’s a signifier of growth and it’s especially fun to fail when you’re doing it with a team :)
